InnoVentum Demonstration & Testing Site for Renewable Energy Technologies in Malmö

InnoVentum is proud to present our Demonstration and Testing Site for Renewable Energy Technologies in Malmö's Västra Hamnen. The inauguration of the site took place in May 2015. The installation became possible thanks to the generous support of our partners:

Location

At the testing site the following technologies are installed:

Giraffe 2.0

Giraffe 2.0 is a hybrid wind-solar energy station, carport and EV charger, capable of charging two electric cars at a time. Special positioning of PV panels allows for stable energy production – providing solar energy during at least four (!) additional hours compared to a classic PV mounting. The Giraffe 2.0 is able to produce around 13 800 kWh per year even in countries with low solar radiation and moderate winds – providing power 24 hours a day, all year round. The wood used for the Giraffe 2.0 construction considerably reduces carbon footprint of the installation, making the balance of carbon dioxide 4+ tons CO2 negative – even before any renewable energy is produced.

Please read all the technical details of the Giraffe 2.0 system on the Giraffe 2.0 product page.

The solution is undergoing testing and certification with SP Technical Research Institute of Sweden during 2015-2016. You can see live performance data of Giraffe 2.0 in the graphs below.

Lodge4Life equipped with Triple Green Roof solution

Lodge4Life is a concept developed by InnoVentum during our project "Power to the Philippines" as a cost- and resource-efficient shelter solution for areas affected by natural disasters. The octagonal shape of the lodge makes it less vulnerable against storm winds. Any type of wood that is available locally can be used for the construction purposes, for example, coconut lumber that is abundant in tropical climates. At the test site the Lodge4Life is used for sheltering electronics and measurement equipment.

In addition, the Lodge4Life has a green roof provided by Byggros in combination with InnoVentum's Solar Power Set on a wooden frame. The solution has three sets of ecological advantages based on the combination of green roof, wooden frame and solar panels - thereby it is called Triple Green Roof.

Dali XII Wooden Tower

Dali wooden tower for wind turbines installed in Västra Hamnen, Malmö

There is a Dali XII 12 metre wooden tower installed on site. The tower has been designed by InnoVentum for small-scale wind turbine installations (e.g., Dali Performance, Dali Lite) and for hybrid wind-solar power stations such as the Dali PowerTower Performance and Lite. At the Demo & Test Site the Dali XII tower supports an anemometer to gather wind measurements for testing and certification process.
